Opinionated
Yes, That is the politically correct thing to do these days.
It is a trend that is catching up. Have your own opinions, based on whatever you know; I know. Identity. That is what makes us want to be correct. To find meaning other than obvious in the simplest of things. Choosing to wake up at 5 am one morning will beocme a political statement; the endorsement of a certain Mr. X's opinions, Ms. Y's views.
Channel [V] comes to campus one fine day. They want to make a blog like show called My India; they 'grilled' a lot of "participants" about how opinionated they could be. What are the "issues" that they are confronted with.Obviously not the issues like farmer suicides in vidarbha, because they are sure there are people more qualified than them, in the parliament and other places like universities, etc. But there sure are other issues, affecting our "everyday lives".
So why is it that a few thousand countrymen giving up lives, leaving families to starve or follow suit, or be eaten raw by the hunger or more exploitation by the landowning class, the moneyed class, the upper Caste, does not become a matter affecting our "everyday lives"? Are we just too glad that, since there is anyway a population explosion of sorts in the country, its good the earth is just shedding some of its eternal weight?
Is the theory, the principle, rather, of the conservation of energy, that "Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can only be transformed from one form to the other"; and the corollary, therefore it remains constant; is that not applicable to life? People are born everywhere and tehy also die everywhere, every day. Has science so blinded us to emotion?
Does there have to eb a reason, an explanation to every act we perform? If I laugh, there has to be something funny that caused it, otherwise I'm insane. If tears press at my eyes and spill out, some incident should've made me upset, made me cry. If not, I'm still insane. If I protest against having to follow the "normal" I'm insane.
So to preserve my sanity, I must carve out an identity out of thin air if necessary. So I'm opinionated. And these are just my opinions!
