Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan

Reaching Borivli at mid day and still not knowing where am I really going to stay, not even where can i dump my bags for the moment, I ended up calling almost everyone I know here...including boss (who's also lovingly reffered to as Daddy/Babaji - bec of his ever prospering beard) - Alankar Jain, my seniors from SIMC, some brokers and finally some FTII friends.

Thankfully office is open even if its a sunday, and i can keep the bags there and trust god to find me a place to stay...

(God exists and didn't let me down)

So in celebration off i go to Mondys with Nivedita and Amit and a treat (from :( me) is on d way...this is one place which is to be felt and experienced, seen and smelt, heard and absorbed

Next stop marine Drive - ice cream and some new found friends - for a half hour - Pinky, Rekha, Ami and Ajay - PInky would be barely 6 or 7 ears old ad came to us to sell the last of her day's tired, drying, dying, withering roses, i couldn't resist asking her name and taking a picture. The little girl got very delightled and wanted more pictures and the other 3 - her friends - followed suit.

All of us - Amit, Nivedita, PInky, Rekha, Ami, Ajay and I - ended up talking and taking pictures for the following half an hour. I hope to see them again at Marine Drive;soon.

The next halt was a minute away The Marine Plaza - the food there - all possible grains put in a transparent glass cylinder;all put to a designer use - a glass of Bournvita for 60 INR; having met those kids right outside barely 2 minutes ago, it depressed one even more to see all the food here going to go waste or put to a decorative use!

Moving on to bandstand at Bandra, the police deemed it unfitfor us to be out at 0230 hrs in the night/morning so we headed to the IIT Powai campus to sleep.

The day or night, I don't know which, ended on a note of a lot of mixed emotions and I only look forward to more such encounters with emotions I can't identify or name correctly.

The photo album will tell you the sme story in pictures...some too clear, and others too hazy...just like the day

je desire

To Toss and turn in the restless bed
Or gape at blank walls in candle-light
To watch a grey sky catch the sunset's fire
Or gaze at the dazzling black velvet covered in stars
To blow away in unholy smoke
A dream
A desire

Opinionated

Yes, That is the politically correct thing to do these days.

It is a trend that is catching up. Have your own opinions, based on whatever you know; I know. Identity. That is what makes us want to be correct. To find meaning other than obvious in the simplest of things. Choosing to wake up at 5 am one morning will beocme a political statement; the endorsement of a certain Mr. X's opinions, Ms. Y's views.

Channel [V] comes to campus one fine day. They want to make a blog like show called My India; they 'grilled' a lot of "participants" about how opinionated they could be. What are the "issues" that they are confronted with.Obviously not the issues like farmer suicides in vidarbha, because they are sure there are people more qualified than them, in the parliament and other places like universities, etc. But there sure are other issues, affecting our "everyday lives".

So why is it that a few thousand countrymen giving up lives, leaving families to starve or follow suit, or be eaten raw by the hunger or more exploitation by the landowning class, the moneyed class, the upper Caste, does not become a matter affecting our "everyday lives"? Are we just too glad that, since there is anyway a population explosion of sorts in the country, its good the earth is just shedding some of its eternal weight?

Is the theory, the principle, rather, of the conservation of energy, that "Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can only be transformed from one form to the other"; and the corollary, therefore it remains constant; is that not applicable to life? People are born everywhere and tehy also die everywhere, every day. Has science so blinded us to emotion?

Does there have to eb a reason, an explanation to every act we perform? If I laugh, there has to be something funny that caused it, otherwise I'm insane. If tears press at my eyes and spill out, some incident should've made me upset, made me cry. If not, I'm still insane. If I protest against having to follow the "normal" I'm insane.

So to preserve my sanity, I must carve out an identity out of thin air if necessary. So I'm opinionated. And these are just my opinions!

Ramblings from past tense...

Stray Words in the Valley

Smoke and coffee and no conversation

Silence to hear and silence to talk to

Sometimes lost in the surrounding din

Smothered in the warmth of requisitioned love

Alone to stand in shadows and echoes

The valley sings & calls out to you

Still waters dance in ripples

Birds and butterflies to fly away

Dried leaves

And sunshine through bare branches to stay

And whisper the secrets of the forest

To a stranger passing by

Never to return to the folds

Of the same beloved silence

And bury yourself in its breath

Carry the blue skies in your heart &

The giggling river in your veins

Is that why the forest was bleeding

Oh come…don’t lie

Where did you steal and hide the raindrop

…Put it to sleep?

The memories are gone

The madness is forever mine to keep

call me narcissistic...but felt like it...so here goes another one

Mera gham mera na raha

Tumne na kabhi use apnaya

Ab akele bhatakta  hai

Anjaani raahon mein

Chaho to tham lo

Woh akele chal thak chuka hai

Kabhi saath chalna uske

Tapte raaston pe

Dhoop hai garmiyon ki

Raaton ko bhi jalti

Sooraj aandhiyon mein bhi

Saath chalta hai

In lafzon ko tum ek nazar bhi na do

Inki zindagi yun hi kam hai

Marne par dafn honge kahan

Sirf rooh ko rehne ke liye

Kya do aankhein kam hai

Jaayenge kahan

Jaao par laut kar aana mat

Shikayat hai tumse

Tumhari berukhi se

Kya hume bhi apni tarah

Patthar hi mana

Lo toot kar bikhar jaate hain

Kya tab sametoge

Un tukdon ko jo kabhi hum the

Blog beginnings...one day of me...at a time :)

wondered for a long time what or rather where do i start with me...poetry seems to be the easiest at the moment so here goes...besides...it also goes with my present mood so read on

Would you welcome me if I came to you

With my arms wide open and eyes wide shut

And hope

And tears

And a desire to smile

With my face in the sunshine

Wanting to feel the breeze blow me away

Cast away all clouds of grey doubt

And reason

To shout and scream

Call out to you

When you hide

And then I never return

Go some place else

That I never knew existed

Just the way the place did not know I did

And dream

To touch the fringes of ecstasy

And distress

And dread to feel

The unnamed familiarity

That is all around me
